Helsinki has been chosen as the design capital in year 2012. The Dutch town of Eindhoven was the second city in close race. Helsinki applied for the title together with neighboring cities, Espoo and Vantaa. Altogether 46 cities from 27 countries applied for the title. The title of Design Capital of the World is awarded every second year. Source: YLE TekstiTV
