In the morning of December 16th the Finnish yacht “Team Finland” entered the harbor of Gerladton-Greenough in Western Australia. The ship, lead by Eero Lehtinen narrowly beat its closest rival “Spirit of Australia” by only half an hour. This third leg had started from Cape Town, South Africa in late November.
This victory puts “Team Finland” in a good position as it already before this leg lead narrowly over its Australian rival. The next leg of the race will bring the fleet to Qing Dao, China around the 20th of February. Altogether the around the world race which started in Humber, UK, will have 7 legs. The race is expected to end when the fleet arrives back to its starting point in July 2010.
